Gum Extraction & Purification Line — Equipment Specification

1. Process Objective

Extract, purify, and dry soluble polysaccharide gum (flaxseed mucilage) from whole or crushed flaxseed to produce a food-grade gum powder with viscosity ≥ 800 cP (1 % solution, 25 °C). The line operates at a throughput of 200 kg/hr dried gum powder. This station is designated CCP-3 (Critical Control Point — Residual Solvent & Allergen Control).

  • PPE: Chemical-resistant gloves + apron for ethanol handling; hearing protection in centrifuge area.
  • LOTO: Lockout on basket centrifuge door interlock; spray dryer atomiser drive.
